The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the abduction and murder of a female banker, identified as Ifeoma, in Onitsha, the commercial hub of the state.
Ifeoma was reportedly kidnapped on January 13, 2025, and held captive for several days. Despite her family paying a ransom of N14 million, she was tragically killed, with her body later discovered along Nnobi Road. Her eyes had been bound, indicating signs of foul play.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects — Monday Egbe (32) and Kenneth Nnoga (28). He stated that they were tracked down to their hideout in a neighbouring state following detailed investigations by law enforcement operatives.
“The arrest took place on May 28, 2025, as part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to ensure justice and maintain public safety. The suspects are believed to be part of the gang responsible for the victim’s abduction and subsequent murder after the ransom was collected,” Ikenga said.
He added that the suspects are currently being interrogated to uncover more information about the group’s operations and assist in apprehending other members of the criminal network.
Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state. He assured the public that the investigation would continue until everyone involved in the crime is brought to justice.
