An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 27-year-old man, Musa Lamidi, in a correctional facility over the alleged murder of his father, Rufai Lamidi.
Musa, who has no fixed address, is facing a charge of murder.
According to the Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, the incident occurred on May 11 around 11 p.m. in Eruwa, Oyo State. He alleged that Musa struck his father on the forehead with a stick, leading to his death.
The offense is said to violate Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun declined to take Lamidi’s plea, citing lack of jurisdiction. He instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the case until July 10 for mention.
