President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to remain focused on Nigeria’s development and unity, saying he will not be distracted from doing what is right.

The statement was delivered by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the launch of former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido’s autobiography, Being True to Myself, in Abuja.

Tinubu, represented by Idris, praised Lamido’s contributions to Nigeria’s political history, noting his courage, consistency, and principled stance despite being a strong opposition figure.

“This is not just a book launch but a celebration of a life committed to democratic ideals,” Idris said.

The President emphasised that political opposition should be seen as a healthy contest of ideas, not enmity, and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance.

He encouraged other political leaders to document their experiences, calling Lamido’s decade-long effort a valuable preservation of Nigeria’s political legacy.

Idris likened Lamido’s bluntness and integrity to Tinubu’s leadership, saying the President remains committed to truth, justice, peace, and prosperity.

He highlighted Tinubu’s efforts toward economic growth, national security, and revenue generation through new tax reforms, stressing that the President welcomes constructive criticism but remains undeterred in pursuing the nation’s progress.
