Four children were reportedly abducted over the weekend in Ogwashi-Uku, located in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, causing widespread panic within the community.

Among the missing are two siblings, Ebube and Miracle, while the other two, Chimanda and Excel, belong to a different family.

The abduction is said to have taken place in the Umuokwe quarters of the town. According to residents, three women who recently moved into the area under emergency arrangements are suspected of orchestrating the crime.

Sources claim the women lured the children out of their homes under the guise of buying them biscuits from a nearby shop.

Alarm was raised when the children were nowhere to be found, prompting neighbors to investigate. Upon checking the women’s apartment, they discovered it had been vacated, with both the suspects and the children missing.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, stated that the abduction happened just three days after the women had rented the apartment. He also revealed that the landlady of the property has been arrested and is currently in custody.

Edafe said: “It is true; the problem is that there is no link. They just came and said they wanted to rent an apartment, and the landlady gave it to them with no details—no name, no phone number, no agreement—and after three days, they carried four children.“The landlady has been arrested because her actions are suspicious.”
