The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has leveled serious accusations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a live television interview.
This explosive claim comes at a time when tensions between the two have been running high, following a public disagreement over a seat allocation.
Last week, Akpabio assigned a new seat to Natasha, which she promptly rejected, sparking media frenzy and drawing attention to their strained relationship.
During an interview on Arise TV on Friday, February 28, 2025, Natasha revealed her side of the story, stating that her troubles in the Senate began when she refused to succumb to Akpabio’s alleged sexual advances.
She boldly asserted that her decision to reject his overtures was the catalyst for the growing conflict between them, signaling that her discomfort in the Senate was far more personal than political.
This isn’t the first time Akpabio has found himself embroiled in sexual harassment allegations, as Joy Nunieh, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), had in 2020 accused him of making unwelcome sexual advances towards her during her time at the helm of the commission.
Nunieh’s accusations set off a firestorm of controversy, as she publicly clashed with Akpabio, claiming harassment and mistreatment, which Akpabio denied.
Now, with Natasha’s fresh allegations, Akpabio once again finds himself in the eye of a storm. His reputation, already tarnished by past controversies, is under further scrutiny, as these latest claims cast a long shadow over his leadership.
