As the festive season approaches, Nigeria’s cultural scene is lighting up with an array of exciting events, from thought-provoking stage plays to vibrant arts festivals and blockbuster movie releases. Season of Theatre and Festivals
The month kicks off with Ikechi’s Covenant on December 1st at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos. With performances scheduled at 3 PM and 7 PM, this promises to be an unforgettable experience for theatre lovers. Tickets are available for ₦10,000 (regular), ₦20,000 (VIP), and ₦50,000 (VVIP).
On December 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th, Creambody takes centre stage at Kininso Place, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, with shows at 4 PM and 6 PM. Tickets are priced at ₦10,000.
For art enthusiasts, the Beeta Arts Festival in Abuja from December 4th to 8th offers a full day of cultural immersion. Ticket options include ₦5,000 for single entry, ₦10,000 for day access, and ₦20,000 for full festival access.
The spotlight then shifts to Mama Na Boy, which will be performed on December 7th at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, and later from December 18th to 20th at Genesius Museum of Art, Bodija, Ibadan. Tickets range from ₦2,000 to ₦20,000, depending on location and seating preference. From December 24th to 27th, Mama Na Boy continues its run at Covenantplus Cinema, Abule Egba, Lagos. Showtimes are 2 PM and 6 PM, with tickets available for ₦7,000 (Regular) or ₦20,000 for a family of four.
On the 7th and 8th of December, it will be time for Rukevwe & Julie to tantalise audiences at the Wole Soyinka Theatre, Ibadan. Tickets range from N3,000 to N15,000
The iconic Once Upon Four Robbers will captivate audiences in Abuja from December 13th to 15th and in Lagos from 21st to 22nd with 3 pm and 7 pm showtimes. Tickets start at ₦15,000 for regular tickets.
On December 23rd, Our Duke Has Gone Mad Again will take centre stage at AGIP Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos. With performances at 3 PM and 7 PM, this play promises a captivating experience. Tickets are priced at ₦10,000 (Early Bird) and ₦15,000 (Regular).
It will be the time for King Sunny Ade from December 24th to 26th at AGIP Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos at 4 PM and 6 PM daily. Tickets are ₦5,000 (Regular) and ₦20,000 (VIP).
From December 27th to 29th, Ye! will bring its energy to the Muson Centre, Lagos. With performances at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, this production offers a premium theatre experience. Tickets are ₦15,000 (Regular) and ₦50,000 (VVIP).
On December 29th, the Muson Centre, Lagos, will host Cheers to 35th. Featuring showtimes at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, this event is perfect for celebrating milestones. Tickets are available for ₦15,000 (Regular).
A unique cultural showcase, Udankwa, will be performed on December 27th at Arochukwu Civic Centre, Abia State. The event starts at 4 PM and is free to attend, making it an excellent opportunity to enjoy live performances at no cost.
Another highly anticipated stage play is Dear Kaffy: Diary of a Single Woman in Lagos, produced by BAP Productions. This riveting performance will run at Terra Kulture, Lagos, from December 26th to January 2nd. With its compelling storyline and talented cast, it’s a must-watch this season.
For those seeking grand musical showcases, The Reign of Queen Fara and The Jewel will dazzle audiences from December 23rd to January 1st at Eko Hotels, Lagos from 8 pm-10 pm with tickets priced at ₦40,000.
Families and friends can also look forward to Our Family Dinner Party taking place on December 26th & 29th at Landmark, Lagos with tickets priced from 15k to 50k. For Ibadan residents, Secret Untapped will be performed on December 28th in Mokola, with tickets ranging from ₦5,000 to ₦7,000.
Blockbuster Movie Releases
Adding to the excitement, Nollywood heavyweights are bringing their best to the big screen this holiday season. The movie lineup includes:
