The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old prophet, Nicholas Nusa, over the alleged abduction of five girls in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, who is the overseer of Divine Grace Church located along Imoga Road in Ibillo, is also accused of impregnating one of the girls, identified as a 15-year-old.
The police said the teenager recently underwent a Caesarean section and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
She has also been placed under the care of the Brave Heart Organisation, according to the command.
The police said the five children were allegedly taken from the Ibillo and Imoga communities on separate occasions between September 2025 and April 2026.
Following their alleged abduction, the children were reportedly kept at the suspect’s residence.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the arrest, saying it followed information received by the police concerning the alleged offences.
According to Ikoedem, the suspect allegedly admitted to the offences during interrogation by investigators.
She said the command had commenced efforts to locate and reunite the affected children with their respective families.
Ikoedem added that investigation into the allegations was ongoing, as the police continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged abductions and the suspect’s relationship with the children.
The command also said further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
