Suspected kidnappers have abducted a businessman in Irawo, Atisbo Local Government Area, in an attack that also left a 10-year-old girl with gunshot injuries.

The incident occurred on Monday after the victim was allegedly trailed from Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his filling station in Irawo before the assailants followed him to his residence, where he was seized at gunpoint and whisked away to an unknown destination.

The injured girl, identified as Modinat Aleshinloye, was reportedly hit by gunfire during the attack and was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment and extraction of pellets.

Confirming the incident, Olayinka Ayanlade, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, said the case was reported at Tede Division at about 10:20 p.m. on May 11, 2026.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, was allegedly trailed from Kraal Market, Ago-Are, to his filling station and subsequently to his residence in Irawo, where he was abducted by three armed men.

Ayanlade disclosed that detectives who visited the scene recovered three expended ammunition shells, which are currently undergoing ballistic examination, as well as three face caps believed to have been used by the suspects.

He added that tactical and intelligence-driven operations are ongoing to rescue the victim unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The latest abduction comes months after a 60-year-old trader was kidnapped in the Monatan area of Lagelu Local Government Area by masked gunmen while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road.
