The Federal Government has announced the discontinuation of physical verification of academic credentials, transitioning fully to an online system aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and public service delivery.
This was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.
According to the ministry, the move is in line with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda and its commitment to deploying modern technology to enhance efficiency, ensure data integrity, and support evidence-based policy decisions within the education sector.
The statement noted that with the introduction of the new system, all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will now be processed exclusively online through the ministry’s official verification portal.
Applicants seeking credential authentication or evaluation are required to register and upload all necessary supporting documents via the designated platform. The ministry emphasized that physical visits for the process are no longer required, as the system has been fully automated.
It added that the transition is expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and strengthen the credibility of academic credential verification across the country.
The ministry advised applicants to adhere strictly to the new guidelines to ensure smooth processing of their requests. It also directed applicants to contact their respective institutions to forward academic transcripts directly from official email addresses to the ministry for verification.
