The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has recorded major successes in its fight against drug trafficking, with the seizure of over 6,000 kilograms of illicit drugs and the arrest of 760 suspects across the state.

In a recent operation, NDLEA operatives arrested a 49-year-old suspect, Fatokun Rahmon, for allegedly stockpiling 347 kilograms of cannabis sativa in a warehouse located in the Rounda area of Abeokuta. The arrest followed intelligence-driven surveillance targeting the area, which is believed to be notorious for the storage of illicit substances.

Confirming the development in a statement on Tuesday, the NDLEA spokesperson in Ogun State, Musa Harris, said operatives acted on actionable intelligence on December 28, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m.

According to him, the operation led to the discovery of a warehouse used for storing illegal drugs, as well as a large consignment of cannabis sativa concealed inside a Honda Ridgeline pickup vehicle.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Command conducted a targeted operation at Rounda, Abeokuta, where a warehouse used for the storage of illicit substances was uncovered. During the operation, a haul of cannabis sativa concealed inside a Honda Ridgeline pickup vehicle was discovered,” Harris said.

He added that the successful operation underscored the Command’s resolve to curb drug trafficking and sustain pressure on criminal networks involved in the illicit drug trade within the state.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State NDLEA Commander, Tijjani Rabe, said the agency recorded remarkable achievements throughout 2025. He disclosed that a total of 6,060.72 kilograms and 2,655.75 litres of illicit substances were seized during the period.

Rabe further revealed that the Command arrested 760 suspects, provided counselling and rehabilitation support to 316 drug users, and secured 159 convictions, with offenders sentenced to various prison terms.

He reaffirmed the NDLEA’s commitment to intensifying efforts against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Ogun State.
