…Rushed to the hospital, under observation

Unease swept through Yenagoa on Thursday after Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, suffered a sudden health crisis that forced an emergency rush to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC). The episode happened shortly after midday inside his office, triggering alarm among staff who immediately called for medical assistance.
It would be recalled that the Deputy Governor and his political ally, Senator Seriake Dickson, a former governor of the state, were said to have perfected their departure from the PDP to the ADC before the latest development.
Medical sources in the state said his case was probably cardiac related.
One source said he appeared to be in severe distress when he arrived the hospital.
Doctors moved him straight into the Intensive Care Unit, where he has since been stabilised. Hospital sources told our correspondent that his condition is under close watch, and although no official diagnosis has been released.
Individuals familiar with the deputy governor’s routine suggested that an overwhelming workload might have contributed to the incident. “He barely rests,” one source remarked, describing him as someone who pushes himself relentlessly.
Security around the medical facility has been tightened, with armed personnel restricting access while senior government officials continue to troop in to show solidarity. Efforts to reach his media aide, Doubara Atasi, yielded no response, but insiders at the hospital maintained that Ewhrudjakpo is receiving comprehensive care and remains stable.
