Controversial UK-based pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has reignited public debate after declaring that money is essential to fulfilling God’s purpose.
The founder of SPAC Nation (now The Nxtion Family) made the statement during a recent sermon on purpose and destiny, emphasizing that spirituality alone is not enough to achieve one’s divine mission.
According to Adegboyega, financial resources play a critical role in advancing God’s plans and sustaining progress in life. He cited his personal battle with cancer as an example, noting that money was instrumental in ensuring swift and quality medical care.
“God isn’t about religion, Christianity, or labels. To fulfill God’s purpose, money is essential. God helped me survive cancer, but yes, money did the madness. It was money that made me the number one priority. Money is my servant,” he said.
The preacher explained that wealth influenced the speed of his medical treatment, suggesting that without it, the outcome could have been different.
“Money was the guy who told the hospital, ‘You’re not keeping this guy on the waiting list for surgery for three months.’ Money was their number one priority. It was money that spoke,” he added.
Adegboyega, widely known for his lavish lifestyle and unorthodox teachings about faith and prosperity, has long courted controversy. His latest comments have again divided opinions among Christians and social media users, with some agreeing that financial means are vital for impact, while others accuse him of materializing the gospel.
