Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and his bride, Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, have made history by hosting Nigeria’s first-ever wedding aboard a moving train.

The unique ceremony, held on Sunday, took place along the Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway, where one of the train coaches at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station was transformed into a beautifully decorated wedding venue on wheels.

Departing from the Alagomeji-Yaba Station in Lagos, the train carried the couple, their guests, and their love story across the tracks—both literally and symbolically.

Following their traditional wedding, the couple’s white ceremony took an unconventional turn. As the train glided along its route, the coach—adorned with flowers, music, and laughter—became the setting for their exchange of vows, rings, and a kiss that sealed their union. Among the guests present was Nollywood actor Stan Nze, who joined others in celebrating the landmark occasion.

The bride, Sharon, an event planner by profession, was the creative mind behind the concept, turning what could have been a simple train ride into an unforgettable experience. Viral clips from the ceremony showed the bridal party joyfully boarding the train, adding a touch of adventure to the day.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) commended the couple for their ingenuity, sharing the moment on social media with the caption:
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”

The event has since captivated Nigerians online, earning praise for its blend of romance, creativity, and innovation.

Beyond its beauty, the Faquas’ train wedding stands as a celebration of modern love and national pride—showing that in Nigeria, even love can travel first class.
