Lagos will tomorrow, Sunday, September 28, 2025, host the grand finale of Greatest Nigerian Classics at the Shell Zenith Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan.

Curated by cultural entrepreneur Funmi Oyatogun and produced by TVP Events, the production celebrates Nigeria’s musical heritage through a fusion of jazz, orchestral performance, storytelling, and visuals. After successful outings in Toronto and Calgary, the Lagos concert marks the tour’s homecoming and grand climax.

The evening will be hosted by Tomiwa Sage, with narration by renowned stage actor Oluchi Odii. Written and directed by Ifeanyi Barbara Chidi, the show features the Premier Symphony Orchestra from Ibadan, performing new arrangements by Kehinde Oretimehin that promise bold reinterpretations of classics.

Audiences will enjoy symphonic renditions of works by legends such as Dr. Victor Olaiya, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Chief Osita Osadebe, Bobby Benson, Evi Edna Ogholi, and Alex Zitto. Blending narration with visuals, the concert becomes more than a performance—it is a journey through Nigeria’s musical history.

The Greatest Nigerian Classics project is designed to preserve and reintroduce the sounds of Nigeria’s golden era, when highlife dominated the airwaves in the 1960s and 1970s, before giving way to Afrobeat pioneered by Fela Kuti and reggae influences from voices like Evi Edna Ogholi. These genres not only shaped the soundtrack of post-independence Nigeria but also inspired the Afro-fusion and Afrobeats movement that now commands global attention. By bringing these timeless works to the orchestral stage, the production bridges generations, reconnecting younger audiences with the artistry that laid the foundation for today’s sound.

Guests are encouraged to attend in “Elegantly African” attire, adding to the festive spirit of the night. Tickets remain available in multiple tiers, including VIP packages. For lovers of timeless music, tomorrow’s Lagos finale promises an unforgettable celebration of rhythm, memory, and heritage.
