Veteran Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has reignited public discussion with his candid views on male sexuality and relationships.
Speaking on the 234 Mzansi podcast hosted by Ani Emmanuel (a.k.a. Nedu Wazobia) and others, the 49-year-old artist expressed his belief that men are not biologically inclined to remain sexually committed to one partner—even when deeply in love.
“I’ve said this before, and it got me in trouble, but I’ll say it again: men were not designed to be sexually committed to just one woman,” he said during the episode.
He continued, “A man can give his heart, respect, and love to one woman, but when it comes to sex, it’s difficult to stay with just one. It’s biology. A man may truly love a woman but still struggle with sexual exclusivity.”
2Baba acknowledged that while some men may choose to live differently, he believes that most are driven by natural instincts.
“Some people choose another path, and that’s okay. But I’m talking about natural biology here,” he said. “A man has many seeds—it’s not easy to limit that to just one woman.”
These remarks come as the singer’s personal life continues to attract public interest, especially regarding his former marriage to actress Annie Idibia. While he refrained from going into detail, he confirmed that their separation was mutual and amicable.
“Annie and I had a good bond. She’s an amazing and wonderful person. But things just weren’t working anymore. We gave it our best, but sometimes that’s not enough,” he said.
Encouraging couples to be honest about their relationships, 2Baba urged people not to remain in unhappy marriages out of fear of judgment.
“If a marriage isn’t working, couples should try to fix it—but if it still doesn’t work, they shouldn’t feel forced to stay,” he advised. “Only those in the relationship know what they’re truly going through. Many people are living in emotional bondage because of societal expectations.”
Reflecting on the women in his life, 2Baba praised the mothers of his children, calling them all “amazing.”
“Each of them has their strengths, beauty, and unique qualities. Annie is amazing, and so is the woman I’m with now,” he shared. “It’s people who stir up unnecessary drama.”
Speaking about his current partner, Natasha Osawaru, the Benue-born singer said his choice had little to do with physical appearance and more to do with emotional connection and trust.
“I’m not really into looks—that’s just a bonus,” he said. “What matters to me is finding someone I can talk to without fear, who doesn’t get angry over little things, and who brings me peace. That’s what I found in Natasha.”
2Baba concluded by saying he remains unbothered by public opinion, stressing that his focus is on his children’s wellbeing.
