Lagos State has emerged as the state with the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the latest figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The commission said the national voters’ register now stands at 103,428,715 registered voters following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and a subsequent biometric verification and clean-up.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed the figures during a stakeholders’ meeting and press conference in Abuja.
Lagos tops the national ranking with 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano State with 6,570,276.
Kaduna occupies third position with 4,662,640 voters, while Katsina ranks fourth with 3,876,051.
Rivers State is fifth on the list with 3,736,434 registered voters, followed by Oyo State with 3,588,111.
Delta State occupies seventh position with 3,525,988 voters, while Benue State ranks eighth with 3,057,225.
Ogun State comes ninth with 3,037,981 registered voters, while Bauchi completes the top 10 with 3,012,547.

INEC said 10,772,421 new registrations were recorded during the CVR exercise before the commission conducted the final biometric verification and cleaning of the register.
The commission also announced that the updated voters’ register would be displayed nationwide for public scrutiny from October 9 to 15, 2026.
The exercise will allow registered voters to verify their details and raise objections or report discrepancies where necessary ahead of the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, INEC said the collection of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would commence nationwide on October 9, 2026.
