A 14-year-old girl living with disability has been forced to have an abortion after being raped and impregnated by a 45-year-old man in Borokiri area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The suspect, who is popularly known as ‘Honourable’, was arrested by the Borokiri Police Division in September, but was released in suspicious circumstances by police, who mandated him to take care of the then-pregnant child.
“He was released and ordered to cater for the child until her delivery and afterwards by the police,” a source said.
But it has now been confirmed by relatives and neighbours that the child, simply identified as Gloria (surname withheld) has been forced to abort the pregnancy.
It would be recalled that Honourable had allegedly “repeatedly abused” by the suspect who lived in the same compound with her aunt at UPE Sandfield, Divine School Road, Borokiri.
One source said the sordid situation blew open recently, as exclusively reported by Naija Daily News when it was discovered that Gloria was three months pregnant.
“When questioned about who was responsible for her condition, she was able to lead them to the man’s residence, despite her disabilities.”
A local witness revealed that it was further learnt that the suspect lured the dumb teenager into his apartment where he defiled her on multiple occasions.
During investigations by neighbours, the suspect’s children confirmed that their father would sometimes ask them to go summon the victim.
The man was arrested by the Borikiri police but was released after the police authority reportedly mandated him to take “responsibility” for the child until she delivered the baby.
The situation took a different twist at the weekend after reports emerged the child had been forced to abort the pregnancy.
