    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the official list of political parties and candidates cleared to participate in the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

    The list, which was displayed at the entrance of INEC’s state headquarters in Awka, includes 15 political parties, each presenting both governorship and deputy governorship candidates.

    George Nnadubem Muoghalu and Chiedozie Alex Okoye of the Julius Abure-led faction were listed as candidates and running for the Labour Party, respectively.

    Among the notable contenders are Nicolas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu and Uche Lilian Ekwunife of the All Progressives Congress (APC); incumbent governor Chukwuma Soludo and Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA); Jude Ezenwafor and Patrick Obianyo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    Other cleared candidates include Chidi Charles Onyeze and Uju Rosemary Izuaka of Accord Party (A); Ezechukwu Japheth Nweke and Elvis Anayochukwu Livinus Obi of Action Alliance (AA); Chioma Grace Ifemuludike and Udoji Friday Igboanugo of African Action Congress (AAC), and Cyprian Echezona Otti and Chuka Samuel Ezeigwe of Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

    Others cleared are Christopher Chukwudubem Nweke and Blessing Ebele Okeke of Action Peoples Party (APP); Chuka Jerry Okeke and Happiness Ugboma of Boot Party (BP); Geoffrey Onyejegbu and Ugochukwu Godson Agbanusi of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); Christy Ndidi Olieh and Ekene Reginald Egbe of National Rescue Movement (NRM).

    Also, Vincent Chukwurah and Osita Vanatius Atueyi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP); Sir Paul Chukwuma and Uzuegbunam Izuchukwu Okagbue of Young Progressives Party (YPP); and Uchenna Martin Ugwoji and Chibuzo Faith Obi of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

    With the candidate list now finalised, political campaigns in the state are expected to intensify in the lead-up to the November election.
