The Abia State Police Command has successfully rescued three victims of a recent kidnapping incident and apprehended several suspects linked to the crime.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the victims — Onyedikachi Peter Onyegesi from Akpou, Isuochi (Abia State), and Ifeanyi Nnabuife and Amarachi Nwaebubu, both from Anambra State — were abducted near Afojide Market, Isuochi.
The rescue operation was carried out on July 12, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m., by the Intelligence Response Unit in collaboration with other tactical teams.
During the operation, police recovered a red Lexus 350 SUV, ₦2 million in cash (part of the ransom), three mobile phones, and two leg chain shackles.
Several suspects have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation, according to the police spokesperson.
