In a breakthrough against rural banditry, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), in collaboration with Operation SAFE HAVEN, have killed two armed bandits and recovered 1,000 rustled cattle in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, Nigeria.
The success of the operation followed a credible intelligence report indicating that a group of armed bandits—riding about 30 motorcycles—had crossed from Plateau State into Taraba and launched a cattle rustling attack on a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb Village.
According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, troops from the 6 Brigade and Operation SAFE HAVEN quickly mobilised and moved towards Komodoro Village in a swift counter-response.
“Upon contact, the criminals had fled across the river into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State, but were engaged in a fierce firefight. Two were neutralised, and 1,000 stolen cattle were recovered,” said Captain Oni.
The recovered livestock were relocated to Jebjeb community in Karim Lamido LGA, where military authorities have begun identification and verification procedures to ensure that the cattle are returned o their rightful owners
Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the effective coordination and swift action of the joint forces. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to ongoing counter-banditry operations and restoring peace and security in Taraba State and the broader North-Central Nigeria.
