Lagos is set to take centre stage once again as it prepares to host the 2025 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), following an official announcement by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Committee of AFRIMA.

The announcement was made during a high-profile event at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the AFRIMA 2025 calendar was also unveiled. The schedule highlights key activities leading up to the grand finale, which will be held in Lagos from November 25 to 30, 2025.

This year’s theme, “Unstoppable Africa,” celebrates the resilience and global rise of African music and culture.

Angela Martins, the AUC’s Director for Social Development, Culture, and Sport, praised Lagos for its consistency and readiness to host events of this magnitude.

“Lagos reflects the heartbeat of African music — energetic, innovative, and deeply rooted in culture. The city offers world-class infrastructure, warm hospitality, and a dynamic media and entertainment landscape,” she said.

Jannet Hadadi, a renowned figure in North African and Middle Eastern music distribution, joined Martins in announcing the host city selection.

AFRIMA 2025 is projected to be the most expansive edition yet. It will welcome:

  • Over 1,600 nominees and their teams
  • More than 60,000 visitors and delegates
  • Over 2,300 production crew members
  • An estimated 400 million viewers worldwide during the live broadcast

These numbers reflect AFRIMA’s growing influence and Lagos’s capacity to host large-scale international events.

As part of the AFRIMA 2025 rollout, organisers announced the official entry window for award submissions. Entries will be accepted from May 27 to August 8, 2025.
