Popular social media influencer Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been re-arraigned at the Federal High Court Abuja over allegations of cyberbullying involving top Nigerian celebrities Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, and music producer Samklef.
VDM faced a five-count charge under the Cybercrime Act 2015, Section 24, relating to the publication of defamatory and offensive content on his Instagram handle @verydarkblackman. He pleaded not guilty to all charges before Justice Musa Liman.

The case was initially brought before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon in May 2024 but was reassigned following her transfer. The charges were first filed on March 28, 2024, and include allegations of cyber harassment and the spreading of false information against notable public figures.

- On October 13, 2023, VDM allegedly posted a video threatening music producer Samuel Oguachuba (Samklef).
- On October 29, 2023, he is accused of posting indecent and offensive videos about actress Iyabo Ojo, including false claims about her family.
- On January 19, 2024, VDM allegedly accused actress Tonto Dikeh of embezzling funds raised for the Justice for Mohbad Movement and linked her to the controversial Gistlover blog.
- On March 19, 2024, he posted videos insulting Deputy Inspectors General of Police and members of the National Assembly, further escalating the case.
Bail Conditions and Legal Updates
VDM was initially remanded in custody but was granted bail of ₦10 million on June 10, 2024. Bail conditions include two sureties who must be either senior federal civil servants or employees of reputable firms with proof of tax compliance.
At the latest hearing, VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, successfully requested the court to uphold these bail terms. The prosecution, represented by Victor Okoye, raised no objections. Justice Liman confirmed the bail terms and adjourned the trial to July 24, 2025.
