Former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, has reportedly dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State for the All Progressive Party.

Otuaro was a two-term deputy governor during the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa administration from 2015 – 2023.

Report surfaced on Wednesday that the Gbaramatu, Delta State born politician had dumped the party in favour of the ruling party at the centre.

The rumour was buttressed by a photograph of the former deputy governor along with the National Chairman of the APC, Umar Ganduje, Great Ogboru, a former governorship candidate, Chief Omene Sobotie, and Senator Ned Nwoko.

The photograph, which surfaced on Wednesday evening, sent political tremors throughout Delta State.

“There have been reports of high level decamps from the PDP in the state. We have heard of the Governor (Sheriff Oborevwori) dumping PDP for APC, but nobody expected Otuaro to leave,” a member of the PDP told our reporter on the condition of anonymity.

However, sources said the move by Otuaro, whose younger sibling, Dennis Otuaro, heads the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), is believed to part of a gameplan to solidity the APC in the state and pave the way for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu re-election in 2027.

Our reporter recalls that Chief Government Ekpemupolo, CEO of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, is a strong ally of President Tinubu and had been investing heavily in early campaigns for the president’s remain in Aso Rock till 2031.
