Max Air, an indigenous carrier, has announced it will resume domestic flight services on March 21, 2025. This follows a three-month suspension of operations after a tire burst incident involving one of its aircraft at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano.

At the time of the incident, Michael Achimugu, the Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs at the NCAA, stated that the airline would undergo a comprehensive safety and economic audit over three months. The safety audit would include a re-inspection of Max Air’s organization, procedures, personnel, and aircraft.

He said: “It is instructive to note that the NCAA had commenced organizational risk profiles for each scheduled operator, including Max Air, which is nearing its conclusion.”

Meanwhile, Max Air, in a statement, said its resumption was due to a successful operational evaluation, adding that this strategic pause allowed it to reinforce its commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

The statement said: ‘During this period, we worked closely with aviation authorities to ensure that all statutory requirements were met while enhancing our service delivery standards.

“As we return to the skies, passengers can expect improved travel experiences, increased efficiency, and the unwavering hospitality that Max Air is known for. We sincerely appreciate the patience and support of our valued customers during the temporary suspension.”
