
In February 2025, Nigerian troops conducted successful internal operations, resulting in the deaths of 217 terrorists and the arrest of 574 others.
This information was revealed by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), with Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, sharing the details in an official statement.
The operations also saw 152 terrorists surrendering to the troops, while 320 hostages were rescued.
Additionally, Major General Kangye reported the arrest of 122 individuals suspected of involvement in oil theft. The troops also confiscated stolen goods worth a total of N2,199,914,942.
He further detailed the recovery of 296 weapons and 7,245 rounds of ammunition during the operations.
The recovered weapons included 159 AK47 rifles, 54 locally made firearms, 36 dane guns, 19 pump action shotguns, 4,836 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1,506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 235 cartridges, and 28 other assorted arms, along with 668 different types of ammunition.
In the ongoing fight against crude oil theft, the troops seized 1,790,934 litres of stolen crude oil, 402,936 litres of illicitly refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil), and 600 litres of DPK (Dual Purpose Kerosene).
