Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested four suspected criminals while on the way to their hideout in the Oyigbo local government area of the state.
The police said the suspects were apprehended during a targeted raid on Blessing Street in the Kom-Kom area of the local government area.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to her, one live ammunition and containers with liquid substances suspected to be hard drugs were retrieved from the suspects, adding that they confessed to being a part of a criminal syndicate responsible for various acts of terror in Oyigbo and surrounding areas.
The statement reads in part, “The suspects are Peter Victor, aged 38, from Una Eket, Akwa Ibom State, and Joshua Ibe, aged 25, from Amadugba, Orlu LGA, Imo State.
“Shedrack David, aged 22, from Ikotumoesen, Eseni Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State.Joseph Acholam, aged 23, from Arochukwu LGA, Abia State.
“They are currently providing valuable information to aid further investigations, including efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.
“The Rivers State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olugbenga Adepoju, continues to intensify efforts to combat criminal activities across the state.”
While reassuring the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in the state, the command urges members of the public to provide timely information to assist the police in ensuring the safety of all residents.
