
Another under-construction two-storey building collapsed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday evening.
The latest incident, which occurred off Sani Abacha Road, is the third in the last one week in the state, and it occurred at the Sani Abacha Road area of Obio-Akpor LGA where a similar incident occurred on Monday.
It would be recalled that on Moday the state government declared a builder wanted after building under construction caved killing at least one person in at the Egbelu Mgbaraja area of Ogbogoro Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Prior to that incident a three-story building also gave way at Iriebe, Oyigbo LGA last week, but thankfully there was no life was lost in that incident.
It was gathered that the latest incident occurred about 4 p.m. on Friday, and there were no report of any casualty at the time of this report on Friday evening.
“We were inside (a different building) when we suddenly heard the creaking sound as of a building going down.
“We quickly rushed out and saw that it was the building under construction close to an hotel (names withheld) that was doing down,” a source in the area revealed on condition of anonymity.
Another sources in the said the collapse could be due to bad foundation and structural defect, saydin, “the building was site on a swampy land.
