Earlier today, the country's military announced the rescue of four hostages kidnapped by Palestinian militants on Oct. 7 - Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv - and since held in Gaza. Around 120 other Israeli hostages are said to remain in Gaza, but it's unclear how many are alive. (Photo by Jack Guez -Pool/Getty Images)

The Iran-sponsored Hezbollah militant group, shocked Israel on Saturday, by hitting the home of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Caesarea, northern Isreal.

The move is seen as one of the most audacious by Hezbollah, even in the face of unrelenting air and land strikes by the Israeli Defence Force on the group’s bases across Lebanon.

A Reuters agency report said the attack hit the PM’s home, but nobody was harmed as the house was deserted at the time of the attack.

The Prime Minister and his wife were said to be out of their home when the attack occurred, but the audacity and success of the attack would boost the militant group and shake the IDF.

The Israeli Defence Force, IDF, said thousands of Israelis were sent into underground bunkers, following dozens of rockets from Hezbollah.

It said, “Approximately 55 projectiles have been launched by Hezbollah towards Haifa and northern Israel this (Saturday) morning, causing hundreds of thousands of Israelis to spend the weekend running to shelter.”

Israel is fighting on many fronts in Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen, with scores of Islamic groups firing projects into the Jewish country.

It was gathered that some of the projectiles that hit Caesarea and other parts of Israel on Saturday travelled more than 50 miles.

It was gathered that although Israel’s air defence system intercepted some of the drones and projectiles, a handful sneaked through and triggered sirens which sent residents scampering underground for shelter.

The latest attacks followed Israel’s killing of Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, the alleged mastermind of the 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel that led to the death of 1,200 civilians, and the abduction of 250 hostages, some of whom are still in captivity.

Israel has also masterminded the assassination of prominent Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in the last three months, including Hasan Nasrallah, and Ismail Haniyeh by Israel’s secret service operatives
