A 30-year-old man, Haruna Ishaka, has died following an alleged attack by his 24-year-old wife, Maimuna, during a domestic dispute in Maigoje village, Mai Idanu Ward, Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:15 p.m. on Monday at the couple’s residence, with Ishaka sustaining a severe genital injury. He reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, while his wife was said to have fled the community and remained at large as of the time of filing this report.
The Taraba State Police Command has acknowledged the incident and commenced efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The command’s spokesperson, Victor Mshelizah, confirmed the development when contacted, saying the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was heading to the location.
“I am aware of the report. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, is heading to the location as we speak,” Mshelizah said.
Preliminary accounts suggest that disagreements within the marriage may have preceded the incident, although the exact circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation remain unclear.
Sources familiar with the incident alleged that tensions had developed over Maimuna’s concerns about her husband’s reported interactions with young girls outside their marriage.
