A police inspector attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, Inspector Adamu Isah, has died after reportedly collapsing shortly after participating in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.

Isah was attached to the Department of Operations of the command.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the inspector collapsed shortly after returning from the weekly Walkathon exercise held at the command headquarters on Wednesday.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention, but attending doctors later confirmed him dead.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed sadness over the sudden death of the officer, describing him as a dedicated and gallant policeman who served the country with commitment and professionalism.

Shaffa said Isah was also an active sportsman who was a member of the command’s volleyball team and a boxer.

“The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah,” the commissioner said.

The commissioner extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues, assuring the family that the command would provide the necessary support during the difficult period.

He also urged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast and take solace in Isah’s life of dedicated service to the nation.

Shaffa prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
