Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered a large quantity of illicit substances during a raid in the Amukpe area of Sapele Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Onyedikachi, 40, and Edna Karaki, 36, both residents of Amukpe, Sapele, were arrested during the operation carried out on May 22, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m.
The command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, said the operatives acted on credible intelligence before storming the suspected drug dealers’ hideout in the area.
According to him, the operation led to the recovery of large quantities of suspected illicit and controlled drugs, including Tramadol, CSC Codeine, Molly, Swinol, Vagadine, Red Boy, Zaza, Taker, and other substances believed to be harmful drugs.
Edafe said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of the recovered substances.
He added that both suspects reportedly confessed to dealing in controlled drugs during interrogation.
The police spokesman noted that the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to uncover the full scope of their activities and identify other members of the network.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes across the state.
Oyeniyi stated that illicit drug abuse fuels criminal activities such as cultism, armed robbery, and other violent offences, assuring residents that the command would continue intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing crime in the state.
