The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a series of airstrikes targeting terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains, destroying key structures and logistics hubs used by insurgents.
This was disclosed in a statement by the NAF spokesperson, Ehimen Ejodame, who said the sustained counter-terrorism operations have significantly weakened the ability of terrorists to launch attacks on civilians in the area.
Ejodame explained that the strikes were executed based on credible intelligence and prior confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), which identified multiple terrorist structures and logistics bases actively supporting insurgent operations within the mountainous region.
According to him, NAF air assets carried out a coordinated operation using precision targeting while strictly adhering to rules of engagement to minimise civilian harm.
“Employing precision targeting and strict adherence to rules of engagement, NAF platforms engaged and neutralised hostile elements and their infrastructure with lethal accuracy, while maintaining due regard for the protection of civilians and the surrounding environment,” he said.
He added that the operation led to the destruction of critical terrorist infrastructure, significantly degrading their operational capacity and limiting their freedom of movement.
The NAF spokesperson reaffirmed the force’s commitment to sustained operations aimed at neutralising insurgents and enhancing national security across affected regions.
