The Nigerian Police Force has officially unsealed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) located in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, restoring full access to the party’s leadership.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, who also disclosed that the party’s Legacy House in Maitama has been reopened and handed over to its officials.

Both properties were sealed in November amid a prolonged leadership crisis involving a faction led by Tanimu Turaki and a caretaker committee backed by former Rivers State governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The dispute has since been resolved following the emergence of the caretaker committee as the recognised leadership at the party’s recent national convention.

Subsequently, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the police to unseal the affected properties and return them to the party’s leadership, paving the way for the restoration of normal operations.

In the statement, the PDP said the unsealing was carried out in compliance with the court’s directive, noting that the properties have been handed over to the National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hereby informs all members and the general public that the Party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, as well as Legacy House, Maitama, have been unsealed by the Nigeria Police Force and handed over… in full compliance with duly issued court orders,” the statement read.

The party commended the police for what it described as professionalism and respect for the rule of law, adding that the action underscores adherence to constitutional order and due process.

It, however, warned against any actions that could disrupt activities at the secretariat, stressing that security agencies have been placed on alert to deal with potential violators.

Describing the development as a positive turning point, the PDP urged aggrieved members to embrace unity and move beyond the crisis in the collective interest of the party.

The party also expressed appreciation to its leaders and stakeholders for their support during the dispute, singling out Nyesom Wike for his role and commitment throughout the period.

With the reopening of the secretariat, the PDP is expected to resume full administrative and political activities at its national headquarters.
