The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected a new set of national officers during its 4th Elective National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda was returned as the party’s National Chairman, while Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru emerged as National Secretary. Their emergence, along with other members of the National Working Committee, was announced by the Convention Election Committee under a consensus arrangement.
The convention, held on Friday night, drew the attendance of key party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, among others.
Delegates and stakeholders from across the country gathered to elect officials who will steer the affairs of the ruling party.
Other elected officials include Ali Bukar Dalori as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye as Deputy National Chairman (South). Prof. AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana was elected Deputy National Secretary, while Murtala Aliyu Kankia emerged as National Legal Adviser.
Uguru Mathew Ofoke was elected National Treasurer, with Ambassador Haruna Ginsau as National Financial Secretary. Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu was returned as National Organising Secretary, alongside Barrister Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary.
Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa emerged as National Welfare Secretary, with Dr. Christopher Michael Akpan as his deputy. Felix Morka was elected National Publicity Secretary, while Hon. Meseko Durosinmi Josiah emerged as Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
Senator Abubakar Maikafi was named National Auditor, while Dr. Mary A. Idele and Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim were elected National Women Leader and Deputy National Women Leader respectively. Dayo Israel emerged as National Youth Leader.
Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole was elected National Leader for Persons with Disabilities, while Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo emerged as Deputy National Financial Secretary.
The convention also produced National Ex-Officio members representing the six geopolitical zones: Dr. Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr. Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon. Bunmi Orinowo (South West).
