Gunmen on Tuesday night stormed Rim Village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two persons and injuring two others during a sporadic shooting that lasted several minutes.

Sources from the community said the attackers invaded the village at about 10:30 p.m., firing indiscriminately before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.

The two injured victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the community was thrown into panic following the sudden assault.

Confirming the incident, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, Rwang Tengwong, told journalists in Jos that the attack occurred around 10 p.m.

“Gunmen stormed Rim Village around 10pm on Tuesday and opened fire sporadically. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed while two others sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital,” Tengwong said.

He described the incident as another tragic episode in the recurring insecurity affecting parts of Riyom and other communities in Plateau State, and called on security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Efforts to obtain comments from the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
