The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Lafia. He said the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 38 Akwanga Unit Command on Friday, March 20, at about 5:00 p.m.

According to him, the intelligence report indicated that a suspected kidnapper was sighted in possession of a firearm in the Adudu area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a team of Mobile Police operatives was deployed to the scene, leading to the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect.

Nansel said the suspect, who hails from Rugan Hassan in Adudu Community of Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended with an AK-49 rifle and four rounds of live 7.56mm ammunition recovered during a search.

He added that the suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.

The police spokesman noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, Nansel reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state. He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid security agencies in tackling criminal elements.
