Businessman and nightlife entrepreneur Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has officially accepted an appointment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, receiving his letter from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The development became public on Tuesday after Obi Cubana shared details of the appointment on his Instagram page. According to him, Seyi Tinubu visited his home on Monday evening, where both men held extended discussions before the letter was presented.

Responding to mixed public reactions, Obi Cubana said his decision to take up the role was driven by his belief that meaningful progress is achieved through participation and dialogue rather than detachment.

He noted that engaging directly within movements and institutions offers a better opportunity to influence outcomes and drive positive change than remaining on the sidelines.

The socialite stressed that the new responsibility would not affect his personal values or public conduct. He maintained that integrity, community advancement, and accountable leadership would remain central to his activities despite the political association.

Obi Cubana also described the President as a commerce-minded leader aligned with the “City Boy” philosophy, adding that national development requires cooperation across different groups and viewpoints. He pledged to promote inclusiveness in carrying out his duties in the South-East.

He further urged Nigerians to tolerate differing opinions, encourage open conversations, and concentrate on initiatives that deliver measurable value to society, saying the focus should remain on collective progress.
