The Jigawa State Police Command has neutralized one suspected armed robber and arrested three others during two separate foiled robbery attempts in Hadejia and Sule-Tankarkar local government areas of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the operations in a statement issued on Friday in Dutse, describing the breakthroughs as clear evidence of the command’s sustained efforts to curb crime and protect residents.

According to him, the first incident occurred around 3:35 a.m. on Thursday when a gang of about eight armed robbers invaded the Fruska Table Water Company in Hadejia.

Officers from the Hadejia “A” Division reportedly responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a gun duel. One of the suspects was shot during the exchange and later died at Hadejia General Hospital, while the others fled.

Police recovered bows, arrows, cutlasses and sticks from the scene, items which SP Adam said reflected the gang’s violent intentions. He added that a manhunt has been launched to track down the seven fleeing suspects.

The second incident took place just minutes earlier, around 3:15 a.m., in Togai village, Sule-Tankarkar LGA, where three armed men broke into the home of one Shamsu Muhd and stole two brand-new Boxer motorcycles.

Operatives from the Sule-Tankarkar Division intercepted the suspects as they attempted to escape. During the pursuit, one suspect ran into a nearby Primary Health Centre, where he was apprehended after being attacked by a mob. Police recovered a locally made gun and the stolen motorcycles.

The remaining two suspects fled, but investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest them.

SP Adam said the arrested suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, and he reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to support ongoing security operations.
