The Ondo State Police Command has opened an investigation into the mysterious death of an unidentified woman found in a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The woman’s body was discovered on Wednesday in a hotel located along the Ore–Okitipupa Road. Her male companion, who reportedly checked into the room with her earlier in the day, fled before the body was found.
A hotel staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the pair arrived together but later, during routine checks, the woman was found lifeless on the bed with no trace of the man.
“The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when a worker got to the room, the lady was seen lifeless on the bed, and the man could not be found. The staff member immediately alerted others, and the matter was reported to the police,” the source said.
The worker added that no visible injuries or signs of struggle were observed in the room.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, said operatives have commenced efforts to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect.
“Yes, the incident happened, and we have begun an investigation, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Ayanlade told journalists.
