The Ebonyi State Police Command has recorded two major successes in its ongoing efforts to combat crime within the state, the command announced on Sunday.
In the first incident, on 12th November 2025, police operatives on patrol along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road responded to gunshots and distress calls, discovering one Ali Solomon being attacked by three armed robbers attempting to steal his motorcycle. Upon spotting the police, the assailants opened fire and fled, but officers returned fire, neutralising one suspect and recovering an AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.
In a separate operation the following day, a kidnapping syndicate terrorising the Ezzangbo area of Ohaukwu LGA abducted one Obasi ThankGod, tying him up and abandoning him in a hotel toilet while demanding a ransom of ₦5 million. Through intelligence-led operations, the police traced the kidnappers’ hideout, rescued the victim unharmed, and arrested three suspects: Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu, and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa. The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged upon completion of the investigation.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, said the operations underscore the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property. Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, reiterated the Command’s resolve to ensure criminal elements have no hiding place and thanked residents for providing timely and credible information that supports law enforcement efforts.
