The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested the village head of Sarkin Noma, Mr. Ero Yaro, for his alleged involvement in a midnight attack that claimed two lives and led to the abduction of one person in the community.
Confirming the arrest in Lafia, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said police operatives acted swiftly following reports of the incident.
“Information was received that unknown gunmen invaded Sarkin Noma Village, abducting one person and shooting two others dead. Acting on this, the Commissioner of Police deployed operatives from the Kadarko Division, who combed the bush and arrested 45-year-old Ero Yaro in connection with the crime,” Nansel stated.
In response to the attack, the Nasarawa State Government condemned the incident and vowed to bring all perpetrators to justice.
A statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, described the incident as part of a disturbing trend of criminal infiltration in the state, warning that the government would not tolerate threats to peace and security.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent midnight attack in Sarkin Noma, Keana Local Government Area, and similar incidents. The state government will not allow enemies of peace to succeed. Security agencies have been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators without delay,” the statement read.
The government assured residents that it is working closely with security agencies and community leaders to strengthen surveillance and prevent further attacks. Citizens were also urged to report suspicious movements and provide useful information that could help in tracking down criminals across the state.
