Nottingham Forest have dismissed manager Ange Postecoglou after just eight matches in charge, following a 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

In a statement posted on X, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat before the final whistle at the City Ground, and the decision to sack Postecoglou was confirmed shortly after full-time.

The Australian coach, who joined Forest on September 9 after guiding Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League glory, leaves the club without a single win in eight games — losing six of them. The poor run has prompted Marinakis to act swiftly, leaving Forest in search of their third manager this season.

Postecoglou, speaking defiantly before the match on Friday, had said his projects usually end “with me and a trophy” if given time.

Former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche is reportedly among the frontrunners to replace him.
