A roadside tailor in Delta State, Mr. Favour Akire, has received over N7 million in donations after he and his wife welcomed quadruplets — two boys and two girls — following more than a decade of waiting for children.
The couple, residents of Ugborikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area, were initially overwhelmed by the financial burden of hospital bills and baby expenses.
According to reports, the new father nearly fled the hospital in panic before the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ugborikoko Division, CSP Zukumor, intervened to assist the family.
CSP Zukumor said she was deeply moved upon learning of the family’s situation.
“I got a call that a tailor had just welcomed four babies after more than ten years of waiting. The caller told me the man was devastated and about to leave the hospital because he didn’t know how to care for the babies or pay the bills,” she recounted.
“The first thing that came to my mind was to reach out to my team. I told them, ‘Let’s do something,’” she added.
Within hours, Zukumor and her team raised over ₦7 million through contributions from kind-hearted Nigerians.
“We started that morning with just empathy in our hearts, and by sunset, God had used Nigerians to bless this family beyond imagination,” the DPO said.
Encouraged by the overwhelming response, she reached out to her friends and contacts outside the division, and more donations — both cash and materials — began to pour in.
A local trader, Mrs. A. B. Otuaro, reportedly donated several cartons of food and baby supplies.
“She gave us so much that I couldn’t even count them all,” Mrs. Akire said tearfully.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, the new father said he was initially shocked when he heard the news of the quadruple birth.
“When they told me my wife had delivered four babies, I almost collapsed. I was expecting twins, but when they said four, I didn’t know what to do,” Akire said.
“She (the DPO) told me not to panic, that help was coming. And truly, she came through for me like an angel. God used her to wipe away my tears,” he added.
CSP Zukumor later presented the donations to the family and announced plans to open a dedicated bank account for the children’s future.
“We don’t want the money mixed with anything else. It’s for the children’s education and welfare,” she explained.
The DPO described the gesture as an example of true community policing, emphasizing that policing goes beyond fighting crime.
“Community policing is not just about law enforcement. It’s about connecting with the people and being there for them when it matters most,” she stated.
Expressing his profound gratitude, Mr. Akire said:
“My name is Favour, and today, I have truly found favour. My children are now millionaires before they can even walk.”
CSP Zukumor has since received widespread praise across Delta State for her compassion and leadership. She, however, credited the success to divine intervention.
“All I did was make a call. The rest was God touching the hearts of Nigerians,” she said humbly.
