Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, for ingesting and concealing 127 wraps of cocaine in his private part and stomach.

The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Ejiofor, who runs boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday, October 8, following credible intelligence. A body scan revealed he had ingested illicit substances and hidden some in his private part.

According to the agency, 58 wraps of cocaine were first recovered from his underwear before he was placed under observation. He subsequently excreted 69 additional wraps in seven rounds, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

In related operations, NDLEA operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs bound for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between October 9 and 10. The seizures included 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in glass ceramics, pentazocine and tramadol injections totaling 282 grams, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules hidden in Vitamin C containers.

Other thwarted attempts included 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol concealed in black soap tablets heading to Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine hidden in handbags bound for Australia, and 568 grams of “loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in herbal containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted 27,510 pills of Rohypnol concealed in alcoholic drink sachets bound for South Africa. A freight agent and a cab driver linked to the consignment were arrested, leading to the apprehension of the mastermind, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi, alias “Yellow,” at Oyingbo Market on October 2.

On the same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was arrested for attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol 200mg hidden in food items to Italy. He confessed to trafficking the drugs for a fee of €945.

In other parts of the country, NDLEA operatives carried out several successful raids. In Edo State, 47 kilograms of skunk were recovered from the home of 33-year-old Emmanuel Sunday at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central LGA. In Osun State, two suspects, Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo, 48, and Oladejo Taiwo, 52, were arrested with 635 kilograms of skunk at Ife South LGA, while two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41, and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were caught with 100 kilograms of the same substance.

Similarly, in Rivers State, two suspects, Okoro Julius, 20, and Onyebuchi Nwibo, 25, were nabbed with 8.5 kilograms of skunk, while in Katsina, 46-year-old Sulaiman Kalalu was arrested with 29.5 kilograms at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town.

In Niger State, operatives arrested 29-year-old Yisa Daniel at New Bussa with 22,000 capsules of tramadol, 800 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 150,000 pills of Exol-5. In Ondo State, 312 kilograms of skunk were recovered from a bush at Ologede camp, Ogbese, while 141.8 kilograms were intercepted from two suspects—Francis John, 39, and Adeyemi Taiwo, 46—along the Benin-Lagos expressway.

In Kaduna, 27-year-old Rufai Ahmed, also known as Farin Malam, was arrested at the Abuja-Kaduna toll gate with 150,000 pills of Exol-5 being transported from Lagos to Katsina.
