Security operatives in Kaduna State have recorded breakthroughs with the arrest of a suspected drug supplier to bandits, a terrorist group leader, and members of a child trafficking syndicate, alongside the recovery of arms, ammunition, and rustled livestock.

The State Police Command, in a statement on Thursday by its spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the operations were carried out following intelligence-led raids across different parts of the state.

On September 29, operatives of the Maraban Jos Division surveillance team arrested Franklin Ozo of Danmagaji, Zaria, who was allegedly transporting large quantities of Exol tablets worth millions of naira. Police investigations revealed the drugs were destined for Kidandan and Giwa for distribution to bandits.

On the same day, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested a notorious terrorist leader, Alhaji Sani, also known as Dan Gude, at Doka Ilu village in Giwa Local Government Area. Recovered from him were a fabricated AK-47 rifle, two rounds of live ammunition, and a magazine. Police say efforts are ongoing to trace the source of the weapon and apprehend his collaborators.

In a separate operation on September 22, police operatives apprehended a suspected child trafficker, Khadija Ibrahim, in Narayi, Kaduna. She was found with a boy identified as Abdulmumin. Further investigations led to the arrest of two accomplices, Daniel Samuel and Danjuma Makoshi, and the rescue of another victim, five-year-old Ibrahim Bilyaminu, from Gusau, Zamfara State. Both children are now safe and under police protection.

Meanwhile, on September 30, 60 cows and 25 sheep stolen by rustlers were recovered with the assistance of a repentant bandit and returned to their rightful owners.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking, arms proliferation, and other crimes fueling insecurity. He also warned those involved in child trafficking and other criminal activities to desist or face severe consequences.
