Champion Breweries Plc, a subsidiary of enJOYcorp, has agreed to acquire the brand assets and intellectual property rights of the Bullet range of alcoholic and energy beverages from Sun Mark International Limited.

The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on August 20, 2025, stating that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to diversify into high-growth segments of the food and beverage industry.

Structured as an asset carve-out, the transaction will result in the transfer of Bullet’s assets to a newly incorporated entity in the Netherlands. Champion Breweries will hold a majority stake in the new company, while Vinar N.V.—a Belgian firm and majority shareholder of Sun Mark—will retain a minority interest.

Champion noted that the deal is subject to regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

Upon completion, the Bullet portfolio will be integrated into Champion Breweries’ financial reporting, with the company expecting immediate benefits such as foreign exchange earnings and expanded distribution networks, alongside longer-term advantages in supply chain optimization, product diversification, and increased market penetration.

The Bullet brand currently boasts a strong presence across 14 African countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania. In Nigeria, Bullet Black leads the ready-to-drink beverage category, while Bullet Blue is among the top six energy drink brands in the market.

The acquisition follows a robust first-half performance in 2025 for Champion Breweries, which posted a pre-tax profit of N3.4 billion—up sharply from N333 million recorded in the same period of 2024.
