The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission, recognizes DCP Adejobi’s exemplary service, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to the core principles of effective policing in Nigeria.
DCP Adejobi was first appointed FPRO in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, while holding the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding then Commissioner of Police Frank Mba. His appointment was later confirmed by the former Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (Retired).
Since assuming the role of FPRO, DCP Adejobi has distinguished himself as a key figure in reshaping the public image of the police. He has led numerous initiatives aimed at rebuilding public trust, strengthening accountability, and modernizing the force’s communication strategies.
A graduate of the University of Ibadan, DCP Adejobi holds a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography, as well as a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution. He previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer in the Ogun State Command from 2008 to 2016.
With extensive experience spanning operations, public relations, and law enforcement advocacy, DCP Adejobi continues to be a pivotal figure in the ongoing transformation of the Nigeria Police Force.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated DCP Adejobi on his elevation, encouraging him to remain a beacon of discipline, service, and integrity.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to promoting merit and professionalism as part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery nationwide.
