In a continued effort to combat illicit drug activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), operatives from the Anti-Narcotics Section of the FCT Police Command have conducted a series of coordinated raids across several identified hotspots in Abuja.
The operation, which commenced on August 1, 2025, targeted areas including Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the raids resulted in the arrest of 116 suspects and the seizure of various hard drugs and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis. Following a thorough screening process, 89 individuals were released, while 27 were charged in court for offenses ranging from public nuisance to possession of illicit substances.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the operatives for their efforts and reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free and secure capital. He also urged residents to support ongoing security initiatives, avoid drug-related activities, and remain law-abiding.
