The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has received more than 500,000 student loan applications through its portal in its first year of operation.

According to NELFUND’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, this achievement represents a beacon of hope for families nationwide and reflects the growing confidence in the organization’s mission to make tertiary education more accessible to all Nigerians.

“This is more than just a number, it’s a signal of hope for families across Nigeria. We are witnessing a nationwide demand for opportunity, and NELFUND is proud to be at the heart of this transformation,” Sawyerr said.

A statement by NELFUND’s Director, Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi on Friday, noted that since the launch of the portal, students across the country have actively engaged with the application process for both institutional and upkeep loans, demonstrating the relevance and urgency of the Fund’s efforts.

The organisation noted that it remained committed to ensuring transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in the application process.

NELFUND called on all stakeholders to join in supporting its vision of equitable education for all.

It added that more information is available on the NELFUND website or through its customer support team.
