The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed a circulating press release claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been postponed, describing it as false and malicious.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the examination body urged candidates and the general public to disregard the misleading notice, stressing that it did not originate from the board.
“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious press release stating that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. The general public, particularly the candidates, are by this notice informed that the press release is fake and did not emanate from us. Kindly disregard it. All activities on the 2026 UTME continue as scheduled,” the statement read.
JAMB reiterated that the main 2026 UTME will hold as earlier announced, from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The clarification comes after the conduct of the 2026 UTME Mock examination on March 28, which recorded technical challenges in some Computer-Based Test centres across the country.
According to the board, a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock exercise, out of which 152,586 successfully sat for the test in 989 centres nationwide.
It added that more than 20 centres affected by technical issues have been delisted due to inadequacies.
JAMB also warned candidates against falling victim to fraudsters, particularly those operating on WhatsApp and promising to inflate examination scores.
The board described such claims as false and criminal, cautioning that any candidate found engaging in such activities risks having their registration cancelled or their results withheld.
